Ministry of Culture of the Chelyabinsk Region

The basis of musical culture in Magnitogorsk, truly cult of classic music, was laid by the distinguished Russian teachers-musicians, creators, the disciples of B.L.Yavorsky, the outstanding Russian scientist and educator. The great role belongs to Semyon Grigoryevich Eydinov, the prominent Russian conductor. It was S.G. Eydinov who created lively and productive system of musical education and enlightenment, bringing together Musical Schools, the Houses of Music, City Orchestras, Academic Capella, famous all over the country, and one of the best Musical Colleges in Russia.

On the initiative of Aleksandr Nikolaevich Yakupov and his assistants – Natalya Nikolaevna Veremeenko, Mark Moiseevich Berlyanchik and with the support of the whole staff, Magnitogorsk Musical High School, named after M. I. Glinka, was reformed into Magnitogorsk State Musical Pedagogical Institute named after M. I. Glinka (the resolution of the Head of the administration of Chelyabinsk region № 335 of 15.09.1993). In 1996 the Institute got the status of Conservatory.

The first Rector of the conservatory Aleksandr Nikolaevich Yakupov, the author of serious scientific research and the brilliant organizer became. He was the first who had realized the necessity of reformation one of the best Colleges in our country into the Institute of Higher Education. High professional and creative achievements of teachers and students demanded new conditions for realizing their creative potential.

The conservatory implements a comprehensive approach to the education a Specialist-Musician. The theory is organically connected with practice. Besides the higher branch there is a Postgraduate course, a Doctorate course, a Musical College, a Musical Lyceum, the Research Centre for diagnostic and early development of children’s creative abilities (on the basis of kindergarten “Notka”), research laboratories and creative studios. The continuity of the educational process enables students to achieve a high professional level.

Nowadays the conservatory is the educational system, which operates common pedagogical and organizational principles, such as succession, continuity of education, creative approach in introducing knowledge, complex and profound development of students’ abilities. Research-and-methodical basis is provided for departments, laboratories, Research-and-development centers. Each student has an opportunity to realize his own creative potential. In the conservatory there are three Concert Halls, numerous stage areas.

Magnitogorsk conservatory has educated more than one generation of advanced, gifted musicians, actors, choreographers, ballet dancers. They make up the basis for the development of artistic infrastructure of the city and the region. They also prove the achievements of Russian performing schools in Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, other cities of Russia and abroad - in the USA and in Europe.
